totally agree with you comment under "U.S. oil prices could sink to $50". Wish i had said it first and as well.

Great response on the VMT article. I agree with your idea about the using the vehicle weight in the formula, but I disagree with you on a couple of points. First, collecting the tax as part of the registration woud be very simple, it could be aburden on some if hit with and additional $200-300 to register their vehicles. Secon, I believe, as a transportation professional, that the best way tocollect is at the pump. All new cars have black boexes. it woudl be very simple for these devices to trnsmit to the pump the mileage drive since the last fill up. The tax, would be assessed at teh pump just like the gas tax is now. there would be no vehicle tracking. Only the total miles driven. One more point. the current system allows the Feds to siphon off a percentage of the taxes/fees that drives pay at the pump for other things such as transit systems, whcihar a money pit, light rail systems, even bigger money pit, off orad trains, transprotation museums, beautification projects, e

I'm planting a garden this year too. Hope it helps reduce food costs. Can't hurt.

Excellent comments regarding Ethanol use!

Excellent response to fracking for oil and gas. If it can't be done safely, don't do it. I would rather have clean drinkable water than all the oil on Earth. People don't look to what we are leaving our future generations.

Good point on the " "Oil giant Saudi Arabia looks to alternative energy " thread.

Your post on the item "Should BP’s Money Go Where the Oil Didn’t?" prompts me to direct you to my earlier post which says, in part, "The problem was not an oil spill, it was a broadcast news event peppered with sensationalism and fear-mongering. Neither BP nor the Coast Guard contributed to those problems. The famed journalist Edward R. Murrow got it right in 1958 when he said, 'One of the basic troubles with radio and television news is that both instruments have grown up as an incompatible combination of show business, advertising and news'." Mr. Murrow identified a problem you may want to discuss with others to stop the foolishness.

"I find it humorous... people hate the verbage of the DOE report and hate the format of the actual numbers here. it just goes to show that people will NOT agree and want to be spoon fed the info so somehow they just innately understand in grunts of "up/down." " Actually, it's more like they want to hear what they want to hear and for people to tell them the things they want to hear. Many do hate it, don't they, or wonder what it is without taking a few seconds to look at it or to go to the link and see the pricing there at Bloomberg, eh? Anyhow, I've been thinking it would be a nice feature to see here, as an RSS feed or something, so I finally wrote them and told them about it.
