Watch out for "fake" hybrids from big manufacturers

GasBuddy Blog -- With gasoline prices hovering deep in to $3 territory, sales of smaller cars have risen sharply with many Americans considering downsizing to a smaller more fuel efficient car. Many like the sounds of a hybrid. But beware, not all hybrids are bred equally.

The 2013 Chevy Malibu comes standard as a hybrid for the time being, but for a hybrid, stops short with only 25mpg city, 37mpg highway. Don't most full hybrids get better city mileage than highway? Some- the Prius, being a full hybrid has such economy. That's because a full hybrid generates power from the constant stop and go of a city. On the fueleconomy.gov website, it calls both vehicles "hybrid vehicle". Is that fair?

That's $500 less than Toyota's Prius V wagon. Ford says the C-Max's fuel economy will also beat the Prius V, which gets an estimated 42 miles per gallon in combined city and highway driving. Ford's new five-seat C-Max, will be sold only in hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric versions.

Check the vehicle MPG, features accessories and equipment are what you want or should be. Watch Out for GM! There is a sucker born every minute and don't let it be you! It does Not matter what Brand or Model it is, Inbreds and EV's are too high priced for me. With the high price of purchasing a new EV or Inbred, I will drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, used, EV, Inbred, diesel, hydrogen, alternative fuel, CNG, concept or anything else. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Then my truck would only get to play when the camper needs towed. Screw a Hybrid, Honda Civic does better than most of these hybrid piles of junk! Soon as I can afford a Electric car, I'm on the way to the dealer for it.

If you put a jet engine and a sail on an airplane, it is a hybrid. Not very practical, but it is still a hybrid.
