Gas Price Sticker Shock Blamed on Chevron

MSNBC -- Gas prices have pushed back over the $4 mark and AAA says you can blame last week's refinery fire.

California’s average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline is $4.10. That is up 40 cents from the last AAA survey on July 10.

“The recent fire at the Chevron refinery in Richmond has created a short-term spike in gas prices across many parts of the Pacific Northwest and Nevada,” said AAA's Cynthia Harris. “It still remains to be seen how long the impact of the fire will be felt."

The refinery is not the only reason for the spike. Positive economic news for the country and higher global crude oil prices are also cited for the increase as well as a new concern about geopolitical tensions with Iran and what that could potentially mean to oil supplies in the Middle East.

When will ALL refineries have far superior fire suppression devices to smother the fire immediately with foam, etc.! Barry's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the jobs are Not here. Barry's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continues to be down – no matter how smoooooth talking Barry spins those numbers and he can spin them very well! People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too! Can't there be some 'hope and change' soon, very soon? Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

The turn around takes much longer than that, I feel if the wind blows the wrong way price gouging runs unchecked with no accountability.
