I never use those gas stations that charge for credit, they are attracted by my business, I'm not going to start carrying a wad of cash to save pennies

"Keep Gas Prices From Guzzling Your Savings"
This is based on the assumption people have savings.

I've got a card with a 3% rebate on gasoline purchases (all the time).
That blows away the $0.10/gallon discount for cash some stations around here offer.

Perhaps you can SLOW the depletion of your savings for fuel. One must be on guard all the time for savings; one slip and your savings is being guzzled!

I get some sort of reward or I won't go to that company's pump. Usually try and double the reward using the credit card. No extra fees for credit up here.

It is kinda Ironic how the president wants to mandate good gas mileage cars by certain years, while the EPA mandates things that fight the mileage numbers.

It doesn't matter.
With the EPA adding ethanol to the gas we get Fewer Miles Per Gallon and buy more gallons to go the Same Distance. The government collects more taxes on those Extra Gallons and We get to pay for the damages this corrosive product causes. Now the EPA will be Increasing the amount of ethanol added to our gas.
Hey, What's not to like?
