An Energy Information Administration report found that increasing exports might raise electricity bills by an average of 1 to 3% annually between 2015 and 2035.

HURRY UP AND EXPORT BECAUSE THE PRICE IS TOO LOW!!!! They just want to jack up all the prices on our domestic users.
If your congressman is in the bipartisan group of 16 ...get him impeached..he is owned by the industry.
Don't buy the BS about jobs...it is all about greed and money.

This comes from the 'other' article on this same topic:
"Asian gas buyers as of July paid almost six times the futures price in the U.S., where it has been..."
-----
Let's see.
- LNG (liquidified Natural Gas - that requires petroleum energy to cool and condense into liquid) is almost six times the futures commodity price here in the U.S.
Conversely.
- in the U.S., where it is almost six time cheaper, driven low by the shale boom.
Inquiring minds wonder, which price will change?
1. Will the price "Asian markets" currently pay drop to the futures contract prices in the U.S.;
or...
2. Will U.S. futures market prices climb almost six times their current price, to meet world market prices?
Realize that the entrance of "Asian markets" (code for China) were to enter the U.S. futures markets as actual buyers, would have the same effect that the "Asian buyers" had on U.S. grain commodity prices when they entered the U.S. grain commodities markets several years ago - resulting in the futures prices more than doubling in just a few years.
And the effects would go well beyond just natural gas/liquified natural gas, that same stuff that heats and power homes and businesses across the U.S. and Canada.
Think about this.
What effect just doubling natural gas prices would have on electric power generation, given the relative number of new power generating plants that are currently being built, are now largely natural gas fired?
And natural gas is used to make almost all fertilizer in the U.S., is used exclusively to dry American grain for storage, as well as to transport and refine the very heavy crude grades such as Canadian tar sands crude?
This is in addition to numerous other uses in North America.
This isn't about simply developing an export market, its about 'maximizing profit potential' (a.k.a. code for 'raising the price of') by diversion of OUR natural resources in order to maximize THEIR corporate profits.
Funny, how the industry only uses "supply and demand" only when its in their best interest to do so - without regard to the consequences to the country that made those resources even available, from which they profit.
This is the same corporate scheme TransCanada is attempting to use with the Keystone XL pipeline - a corporate redistribution of wealth, by exporting the resources of one country, to the highest bidder on the international market (in this case China).
That's okay, the Chinese are only going to use it to power their industrial base, which they in-turn will use to pump out more cheap-junk to export and place on the shelves at WalMart - furthering our foreign trade deficit, and American money flowing to China.

Its a market that makes it worth while to produce more here. More jobs here and other fuel prices can drop because of the new supply of an altenitive fuel.

Export it. And then watch the prices we pay here at home increase.

Exports are good, they bring $$$$$ into this great Republic, instead of sending it to Asian and Southwest Asian countries.
This country has exported fossil fuels in raw and refined forms since before WW II and continues to this day. NG exports are not new.

"“[A]llowing natural gas — like other U.S. commodities — to have the opportunity to sell its product on the worldwide market will create new jobs and help balance our trade deficit,” the letter said...."

They forgot that one teeny tiny minor point...
... and increase the price for natural gas, which is currently hurting corporate profits...

The Obama administration has dragged its feet when it comes to natural gas. The only cleaner power that they were interested in , was solar where they gave away U.S. taxpayer dollars to now bankrupt solar companies. Obama needs to be a one term president.

No exports until the Nat Gas "Fuels" economy here by lowering energy costs. Then only export excess.

We don't need to export if it will cause higher prices in the USA. wE ALSO NEED TO NOT EXPORT DIESEL & OIL SINCE IT IS CONTRIBUTING TO HIGHER PRICES HERE IN THE USA.

@Fitwit A real up and coming Market is Industrial Hemp...
This Administration (meaning those idiots in office) LOVE indirectly taxing (causing a burdensome charge, obligation, duty, or demand) on the middle and lower income people of this Country!
VOTE THE SCUMBAGS OUT! ALL OF THEM! If this was first and foremost being properly utilized HERE and driving down OUR costs of fuel consumption, then yeah, sell that Sh*t on the open market. Introduce another competitive product like Industrial Hemp to the bio-fuel market to further this and bio-alga... Get this working properly in your own market before you mess up an international market... hell have we learned nothing from the housing bs or internet crap?

This will do nothing but drive up the cost of natural gas and will hurt already hurting people which no recovery has even begun yet. Stop this madness and lets start worrying about this country and its people instead of the rest of the world and how much money we can make. Money money money is going to do this country in

It is one of the few natural resources that we could become independent on, but profit and greed step in and the price will be driven up by demand outside the US. I am guessing that is why they are stalling to keep the price low and hope for more use in the US where supply can meet demand.
