Oil income protects some states from pain of gas costs

Kansas City Star -- Tom Casey has spent nearly three decades working around Kansas oil and natural gas wells and has seen some rough economic times for the state’s energy industry.

Now isn’t one of them.

Casey, the manager of Express Well Service in Victoria, recently hired two workers, bringing it up to 40 employees. He also would hire a few truck drivers if he could find some. The company is using every piece of equipment it has, and there is plenty of overtime to go around.

“It’s the busiest it’s been in the last 10 years,” Casey said. “It’s pretty good.”

In 2011, the average prices for gasoline were the highest ever, and this year they are on track to set another record. The national average, according to AAA, is now $3.93 a gallon, and it’s expected to rise more.

The increase has punched a hole in

The USA is finding more and more oil and natural gas. For all this they do not give their people a break in energy prices but increase exports to other countries. Soon other countries that have our jobs will be bleeding us dry on oil and natural gas while we will be a poor country unable to pay for its own energy needs.

But all this is not lowering the prices in the US, as it is now all about profit and shipping it to the highest bidder, not supply and demand in the US. As demand in the US is dropping.

Yea, now if the Gov. would just stop allowing or place a high Export tax on ALL US Commodities including petroleum by products we would have all the petroleum distillates available for sale in the USA . WHICH WOULD FORCE PRICES DOWN AT LEAST SOME. Then Speculators would have a glut of supply and not enough buyers. Of course if they would stop the speculators the price would drop anyway.. But since we can only regulate speculation within US markets or on US products then if they can't leave the country they have to sell at a price people can afford, for use above any absolute minimum we have to have.
